Al Qaeda Names New Leader

The world knew that even though Osama Bin Laden was dead, killed by US Navy Seals, there would still be an al Qaeda. And as with any group, there will always be someone who needs to take charge. And that person has been named today it seems, says a jihadist website.
After careful consideration, the Qaeda al-Jihad, or Al Qaeda, has decided to name Sheikh Dr. Abu Muhammad Ayman al-Zawahiri, which was released in a statement to a major jihadist website.
The statement also noted that Osama bin Laden, a martyr in their eyes, should be prayed for as he is lifted into his heaven and rewarded for all his good deeds for the entire Islamic religion and nation.
Ayman al-Zawahiri, as he is most known by, is turning 6o years old in a few days. He has long been bin Laden’s right hand man, so it wasn’t a huge surprise that he was named to take over his former mentor’s spot as the top of the chain in the Al Qaeda organization.
In fact, some consider al-Zawahiri just as dangerous as bin Laden himself. He has been indicted for the 1998 bombings of the US Embassy’s in Tanzania and in Kenya. That attack did major damage, kiling 224 people and wounding over 5,000 more.
The FBI has had a bounty on his head of $25 million for information leading to his capture or death, the same amount that they had place on bin Laden.
Zawahiri is especially dangerous, since in 2001, after 9/11, in an attack in Afghanistan, US forces killed his three children and wife in a bombing on his suspected hideout.
The statement on the website cannot be confirmed at this time. However, it is posted on other jihadist sites and other sites that support Al Qaeda and help to recruit members to the jihad cause. So, US officials are taking this as a true statement for the time being, unless it can be proved otherwise.
Even though there is a ne leader, they promised not to change any of the policies of al Qadea, and they will continue to eradicate the Western ways from the Muslim world. Also, he said they will continue to support the Taliban and leader Mullah Omar as they battle NATO and US forces in Libya.
Nothing has been said though about the current rising of pro democracy governments all throughout the Middle East.
