50 Cent Writing an Anti-Bullying Novel

One of the biggest rap stars that has his hand in a bit of everything is writing a book to try and help kids be more aware about the epidemic that is growing across our nation at a rampant pace it seems.

While people may think bullying is just part of being a kid, that is far from the truth these days. More and more studies are showing the long term mental damage that bullying can do to a perfectly healthy young child. And that is why you are seeing so many more anti bullying campaigns, specifically from celebrities who seem to have a large pull with the younger audience.

So with reports that 50 Cent is writing an entire novel on the epidemic of teen bullying, it is really refreshing. As a rapper, sometimes 50 Cent’s lyrics may come off as you need to bully others in order to be the man or to get somewhere in the world. While those are just lyrics in a song and really don’t mean anything in the real world, kids take those words to heart and many live or die by what their favorite artist says.

That is why 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is writing the book. He sees the problem nationwide and thinks that rappers’ lyrics could be sending the wrong message to kids about bullying. Jackson has said that in the future, he is going to be a lot more careful with what words he chooses in a song, as he doesn’t want to come off as a bullying and doesn’t want kid to think that it is alright to do that as well.

The story tells the background of how a kid actually becomes a bully, and it is semi-autobiographical he says. It is based on the life of a 13 year old who is a bully but finds redemption and closing in coming to terms to what he has done to others and changing.

Jackson is no stranger to the print world. He already has two books out, and they have been on the NY Times Best Seller List. One was a memoir called From Pieces to Weight and his other book was called The 50th Law, which was co-authored with the man who wrote The 48 Laws of Power, Robert Greene.

According to MTV, 50 Cent plans to have this book released to the public in January, and Penguin Imprint Lazorbill will be the ones publishing the book for the media mogul.

Jackson has also starred in the movie Get Rich or Die Trying.
